2026 Business IMPROVEMENT GRANTS
Rules
Eligible for-profit small businesses may receive up to $10,000 for approved facade, business upgrades, or a combination of both projects.

Historic Facade/exterior: up to $10,000

Business upgrades: up to $10,000
Combined project cost cannot exceed $10,000 in total cost.
Facade & Exterior Preservation (100%)
Preservation Examples: masonry/wood/concrete repair, historic door/window replacements

Isles will cover 100% of eligible facade improvement costs, paid directly to the contractor:

50% upon project start

50% upon project completion
You may choose to work with your own licensed contractor or request that Isles provide a designated contractor. If you have an existing contractor and price quote, please attach in the space provided in your application. If not, preliminary approval may be granted contingent on a contractor quote submitted after the application.

Business Upgrades & Cosmetic Appearance (80%)

Business Upgrade Examples: POS systems, tables & chairs, kitchen equipment to improve business efficiency, menu redesign / digital interior signage install

Cosmetic Appearance Examples: Commercial signage/awning replacement, wall repainting, flooring
Isles will reimburse 80% of eligible material and cosmetic improvement costs (before tax) to the grantee following submission of proof of purchase. The remaining 20% is the responsibility of the grantee.

For example, if new POS system hardware cost $1,000 before tax, Isles will reimburse $800, and the owner will be responsible for $200 + sales tax.
Where?
The business awarded must operate within the Downtown Trenton Neighborhood area.
